Some new features...
Hi Guys,
Sorry it has been a bit quiet on here recently (however, anyone can post if you have any decent photos, videos, banter etc)
Anyway, Claire and I (your Junior Development team) have been working hard in the last week or so (yes I know, even I work sometimes). If you take a look at www.juniorgliding.co.uk you will see lots of links etc regarding all the money you can apply for, for next season. If anyone knows of any other funds please let me know.
Also we now have a twitter account...If you look for Junior Development Team, this will keep you upto date on parties, scholarships, possible trips etc...
There will be a Facebook page in the next day or so...and much more to follow in the next week or so.
Please leave any constructive criticsm on the comments places below at any time. I know what I like, however it may not always what you guys/gals want...
Cheers

An old cowboy sat down at the Starbucks and ordered a cup of coffee. As he sat sipping his coffee, a young woman sat down next to him. She turned to the cowboy and asked, 'Are you a real cowboy?' He replied, 'Well, I've spent my whole life breaking colts, working cows, going to rodeos, Fixing fences, pulling calves, bailing hay, doctoring calves, cleaning my barn, fixing flats, Working on tractors, and feeding my dogs, so I guess I am a cowboy.' She said, 'I'm a lesbian. I spend my whole day thinking about naked women. As soon as I get up in the morning, I think about naked women. When I shower, I think about naked women. When I watch TV, I think about naked women. It seems everything makes me think of naked women.' The two sat sipping in silence. A little while later, a man sat down on the other side of the old cowboy and asked, 'Are you a real cowboy?' He replied, 'Always thought I was, but just found out I might be a lesbian

Leicester chase Davids signature
Won't be long before Leicester are getting the top slot on Match of the Day
Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has confirmed that the club are trying to sign former Netherlands international midfielder Edgar Davids.
The 36-year-old, who has 65 caps, has played for Ajax, AC Milan, Juventus and Tottenham and is a free agent after leaving Ajax in the summer of 2008.
Foxes boss Pearson told BBC Radio Leicester: "There's been interest in both directions
"But whether it comes to anything is another story."
Signing Davids would be a remarkable coup for Championship side Leicester.
They only returned to the second tier of English football this term after a season in League One but have made a promising start and are in eighth spot following Tuesday night's win over Crystal Palace.
Pearson added: "When players become available if they are the right players for us then we investigate it.
"There's been interest but after that I'm not in a position to comment further. There's nothing to elaborate on at the moment."
Davids began his career with Ajax in his him homeland in 1991 and went on to win the European Cup with them in 1995.
He then moved to AC Milan in 1996 before joining Juventus a year later and has been a European Cup runner-up on three other occasions.
He has also won domestic league titles in Holland and Italy.
Davids moved to the Premier League in 2005, joining Tottenham where he spent 18 months before returning to Ajax in January 2007.

Juniors Website
The Official Juniors website is now up and running properly. It is still in a basic form, however it is a great foundation to build on.
www.juniorgliding.co.uk
If you go to the affordable gliding page you will find all the different scholarships that are available to you to make gliding as cheap as possible.
Keep an eye on the site as more links to gliding clubs that are having special deals etc will be appearing.
If anyone has any bits they would like adding I would love to hear from you. It is very much a work in progress.

10th October
I am sorting out what booze we need for the 10th at Hus Bos.
I am trying to find cheap Jungle Juice at the moment.
I have plenty of Country Manor, so don't bother buying your own...it will be 50p a glass (we want to get rid of the bloody stuff)
There is also going to be the HBT...Hus Bos Toxic. This will be available for around £2 for half a pint and should have a kick on it like a mule
Anyway, if anyone else has any ideas or requests for booze please let me know. We are trying to keep the costs down in the bar so that people don't bring their own drinks. The club are letting us have the room for free, so I hope people don't take the piss by bringing all their own booze.

BGA Junior Strategy- Mini Conference
Husbands Bosworth Saturday 10th October 2009.
Find out what’s been happening, come and tell us what your club’s been doing, and discover opportunities for your club to get involved.
And by a happy coincidence we have the party straight afterwards. The party will not have any food although some "munchy" food will be available for emergencies...if anyone does want feeding in the evening please let me know. You will all be happy to hear that our old caterers have left and we have new ones in who are cheaper and do better food.

A day in the life of Tim Davies when the sky looked like this...
Having taken a day off work Tim rigs (his very shiny ASW 27) and grids up on what appears to be the last cracking day of the summer...
Releasing at 1500ft and taking an excellent climb to cloudbase at just over 3 grand he starts on what he is hoping is going to be an epic days flying...
He sets off at a tremendous pace covering 37.5km in 13 minutes...yes that is nearly 166kph...unfortunately he was now on the ground at Rattlesden...
what makes it worse is that he then posted it on the ladder...yes that is right...a whole 191 points

We love you Tim

Party
The end of season party will be on the 10th October at HB. Live band and cheap booze should make it a great evening.
If you need a bunk room ring Hus Bos on 01858 880521 or if there are a group of you coming book one of the club caravans...(they are under my name at the moment however just get Sarah or John to change the diary)
I am off surfing for a week now (well Katy is surfing, I will be paddling about getting cold)...so if anyone emails me I probably won't get it until next weekend.
Cheers for a great summer guys...

Please join this group and warn all the poor freshers away from Matt "I probably have most STI's" Davis...he is one of the reps and I feel sorry for all the poor girls (and boys) who are going to get horrible rashes.
